PROGRAMME: |

The excursion sets off towards the charming hamlet called
“il Vicariato”, a former bishopric. The trail winds along the watershed between
two minor rivers which lead us to the picturesque “Torri di Pietrafagnana”, a
splendid natural formation made up of peculiar rocky formations called “clasts”
– these are structures formed by stones transported and deposited by some
prehistoric river and joined together by fine limestone to form a single block.
It is possible to climb onto the structures which undoubtedly make up a striking
part of the landscape with their natural megaliths.
The excursionists then continue to the Vicariato that is also positioned on the
crest which offers an ample view of the sea and hills of the southern part of
Montefeltro and the Apennine ridge (Nerone, Catria, Alpe della Luna).
The walkers reach the Vicariato, a splendidly conserved and restored “place of
stone”. They walk along the few medieval alleys. The Vicariato houses the head
offices of TAM (Treatment of Artistic Metals), an outbuilding of the Accademia
di Belle Arti (Academy of Fine Arts) of Urbino and a gallery of modern art.
The guides then accompany the excursionists back to their cars.
